Today in the UK is Shrove Tuesday! A fab time of year where we as a nation all do the same thing and all cook delicious pancakes. Although they are delicious they’re not as delicious as what you get in NYC. Anyway Shrove Tuesday is the last day before Lent which then starts the build up towards Easter.
But why eat pancakes I hear you cry! Well traditionally Lent is a time where you would give something up for forty days and forty nights so Shrove Tuesday would be the last chance to indulge yourself, and for you to use up the foods that aren’t allowed in Lent. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent.
So will you be giving up anything for lent? Why not leave a comment below.
